Garage Floor Paint:
Read below and then take a look at the pictures. I searched for hours trying to find the best product to use. After I found the best product I had to choose another one in my price range...lol I never thought I'd be upset to have such a huge garage... Anyway I used Rust-Oleum Epoxy Shield to paint my floor. It is available at Home Depot and Lowes. 1 kit is enough for 250 square feet. For my first bay I used two kits because I had a little over 330 square feet. The other 2 bays took 3 kits total. Since I have a wall to seclude the end bay, I was able to push everything out of it and do it first. After a few weeks I moved everything into it to do the other two bays. All the pictures are of the 2 bays that I painted last.
| Step 1: | Move everything out of the garage and sweep it out. Also make sure the weather is going to be nice for the next couple of days. |
| Step 2: | Prep is the key. I used muriatic acid mixed with water to acid clean the floor. The Rust-Oleum advised against muraitic acid but I trusted its cleaning ability more than the cleaning kit included with the kit. I did use the cleaning agent included in the kit after I acid cleaned the floor. |
| Step 3: | Let the floor dry 24 hours minimum. |
| Step 4: | Day 2, painting. Make sure you follow the directions inside the kit. The outside temperature affects the painting schedule. |
| Step 5: | Tape off whatever you don't want painted. |
| Step 6: | Paint the edges and anything else that a roller cannot get close to. |
| Step 7: | Roll on the paint! |
| Step 8: | Clean up. Don't walk on the floor for 24 hours and don't park a car on the floor for at least 7 days (14 if you can wait that long). |
| Step 9: | Admire the floor. |
